Your Visit With Us
Everything you need to know before your first visit — and what to expect from your ongoing care with us.
New Patients
How do I schedule my first appointment?
New patients are seen by referral or by self-referral. Call us at (858) 622-7200 (La Jolla/Poway) or (619) 463-1293 (La Mesa) to schedule. Please have your insurance information available at the time of scheduling. Our front desk will let you know what forms and records to bring.
What should I bring to my first appointment?
- –A valid government-issued photo ID
- –Your insurance card(s)
- –A complete list of current medications (including supplements and over-the-counter drugs)
- –Recent lab work and relevant imaging results (DEXA scans, ultrasounds, etc.)
- –Your referring physician’s contact information, if applicable
What should I expect at my first visit?
Your first visit with us is a comprehensive consultation. Plan for 60–90 minutes. Our physician will review your history in detail, perform a focused physical examination, and discuss a personalized evaluation and management plan. We may order labs or imaging at that visit or request records from prior providers before finalizing our recommendations.
Insurance & Billing
What insurance plans do you accept?
We accept most major insurance plans including Medicare, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, United Healthcare, Cigna, and many others. Please call our office to verify your specific plan before scheduling. We encourage patients to contact their insurance company as well to confirm that our physicians are in-network for their plan.
What if I don’t have insurance or my plan is out-of-network?
We are happy to see patients who are uninsured or out-of-network. Our billing team will work with you to discuss self-pay rates and payment options. Please call us at (858) 622-7200 to discuss arrangements before your visit.
Appointments & Cancellations
What are your office hours?
Our offices are open Monday through Friday, 8:45 AM – 5:00 PM. Hours may vary by location. Please call the specific office location to confirm availability.
What is your cancellation policy?
We ask that you provide at least 24 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. This allows us to offer the time to another patient who may be waiting. Late cancellations and no-shows may be subject to a fee. We understand that unexpected situations arise — please call us as soon as possible if you cannot make your appointment.
