Our La Jolla office now offers liver elastography — a quick, painless, in-office ultrasound test that measures liver stiffness to assess for fibrosis (scarring) and fat in the liver.
This matters for many of our patients. Metabolic dysfunction–associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD, formerly called fatty liver disease) is common in people with diabetes, prediabetes, obesity, and metabolic syndrome — and it often progresses silently, without symptoms, until significant scarring has developed. Elastography lets us detect and stage liver involvement early, without the need for a biopsy or a referral to an outside imaging center.
The test takes only a few minutes, requires no sedation, and gives us an objective measurement we can track over time as we manage your metabolic health. Bringing elastography in-house means your liver assessment happens as part of your endocrine care, in one place, by the team that already knows your history.
