He earned his combined MD and PhD at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine and the Scripps Research Institute, where his doctoral research investigated non-invasive molecular biomarkers of chronic kidney transplant dysfunction. Before medical school he studied chemistry at Duke University and earned a master’s degree in pharmacology at Virginia Commonwealth University. He completed his internal medicine residency in the research program at Scripps Green Hospital and his fellowship in endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism at Scripps Clinic in San Diego, including a year as a clinical scholar at the Scripps Research Translational Institute. He is board-certified in internal medicine and has been board-certified in endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism since 2024.
Dr. Mba approaches each patient with thoroughness and a commitment to translating complex endocrine physiology into clear, practical guidance.
Research & presentations
His research spans clinical trials in sepsis at Duke University, neuropharmacology and transplant genomics at Virginia Commonwealth University, and clinical endocrinology. He is a co-investigator on the practice’s thyroid radiofrequency ablation outcomes study, presented at ENDO 2026, and has presented at the annual meeting of the American Thyroid Association.
