Endocrine Glands and Endocrine Conditions

Endocrinology is the study of hormones – chemical messengers - secreted by endocrine glands, which circulate in the blood to critically regulate many aspects of the body’s functions. Most glands are under the control of the master gland, the pituitary. Disease occurs when these glands make either too much (hyperfunction) or too little (hypofunction) of their respective hormone. The concerted action of the many hormones in our body is extremely intricate and difficult to grasp - only endocrinologists have the necessary expertise to help you with these conditions.
